Are you sure you're checking "Allow visitors to send full item text" in the "Send to Friend" settings tab under admin/content/send/send? The "defaults" tab does have a bug currently where the settings are not saved correctly. Also, node based settings for a content type (or actually on a specific node) will override other settings.
Setting thefull item text value does send the full node for me. If you continue to have this issue, despite making sure that value is set, please let us know what cck field types you're having the problem with.
